Conwy County Borough Council contribute their recycling success to the Kerb-Sort vehicle

Conwy County Borough Council purchased 12 standard and five short wheel-base Romaquip Kerb-Sort vehicles in 2011. The vehicles were used to implement the Council's 'Recycle More' weekly resource collection service, collecting food waste, cans, plastic bottles and containers, paper, cardboard, glass, tetrapaks and batteries in a single pass.

The service was launched in June 2011 and resulted in the following out-turn for 2011/12:

Kerbside Dry Recycing (tonnes)

  • 2010/11: 6,320
  • 2011/12: 8,191
  • Change: +1,871

Kerbside Dry Composting (tonnes)

  • 2010/11: 6,123
  • 2011/12: 8,393
  • Change: +2,270

Landfill Domestic Rounds (tonnes)

  • 2010/11: 24,699
  • 2011/12: 20,581
  • Change: -4,118

Municipal Waste Recycling %

  • 2010/11: 41.8%
  • 2011/12: 52.0%
  • Change: +10.2

In the latest data audited and announced by Welsh Government (Q2 2012-13), Conwy's recycling rate has increased to 60% the highest in Wales.

The design and performance of the Romaquip Kert-Sort vehicle has contributed to that success and I would have no hesitation in recommending the company and the vehicle to other local authorities.
