KERBSIDE RECYCLING | What, how and why?
Kerbside recycling is a recycling method which sees recyclable materials sorted by residents in the home and then collected, transported and emptied in designated containers. Materials are typically collected in large bins, coloured bags, or small open plastic tubs, each one specifically intended to collect a different type of recyclable material?
WHY CHOOSE THIS APPROACH TO RECYCLING?
- Higher quality, pre-sorted recyclable materials at the point of collection
- Dramatic reduction in time spent separating and sorting materials at the waste treatment facility
- Promote greater awareness among households of their waste and recycling habits
